There are three mega reasons the masses will buy something. Forget everything else. Simply appeal to at least one of these, and do it well, to move more units.
Here they are:
1) Survival. Food, water, clothing, shelter. Until this is taken care of, we as humans cannot worry about anything or anyone else – not even our loved ones. So, if you can tie your product or service to self-preservation, do so. Jackpot.
2) Excitement. This could be travel, adventure, leisure, sports, and definitely sex. After food, water, clothing, and shelter, this is the second best sales appeal. So, market mystery, fascination, memories, passion, pleasure – not qualities. Bingo.
3) Money. And everything that comes with it: security, status, better survival, more excitement. This is the third-best buying motive. If you can make someone more money, help them save money, or protect their money, lead with that. Yahtzee.
Stop making this so hard. Don’t sell people your thing; sell ’em what they crave.
